Secondary school teachers group declares Tues. school strike
By Haaretz Service

The Secondary School Teachers' Association announced Monday that seventh through ninth-grade teachers will strike for two hours Tuesday morning, in protest of what they contend is the Finance Ministry's refusal to accept their demands for increased pay and reforms in the education system.

The strike will not affect special education programs in towns along the Gaza Strip.

The Teachers' Union, however, announced Monday that schools would operate on a normal schedule. According to the union, which represents roughly 90 percent of seventh through ninth-grade teachers, there is no reason to go on strike prior to deliberations in the National Labor Court scheduled for Wednesday.

Last Wednesday, teachers' organizations held a strike affecting first and second grades, as well as eleventh and twelfth grades throughout the country.
