Accountant-General complains to police over death threats
By Roni Singer-Heruti, Haaretz Correspondent

Accountant-General Yaron Zalika on Sunday complained to Dan region police over anonymous death threats he said had been made against himself and his family.

Zalika's wife had previously complained about threatening phone calls she has received.

The investigative branch of the police has decided to assign the case to the national financial crime investigation unit. The police have instructed the Accountant General to improve the security around his home. The added security will be provided by the Treasury security personnel.

This is not the first time that Zalika's life has been threatened. In the past few months he has complained of a number of threats on his life.

At a conference initiated by Zalika last month he complained that "a coalition of beneficiaries illegally helping themselves to state funds has declared a active war against us, and they have been joined by powerful individuals.

"This is not the place to tell you what I have been going through, from challenges and resistance though slander and persecution to threats. Threats that continue as I speak to you here. But I shall not flinch nor shall I hide myself away."
