Alleged crimelord, son arrested following brawl in Ramat Gan
By Roni Singer-Haruti, Haaretz Correspondet

Police on Wednesday morning arrested alleged underworld kingpin Ya'acov Alperon and his soldier son, Dror Alperon, on suspicion that the two were involved in a brawl in Ramat Gan last week.

Police suspect Alperon and his son injured one of suspected crime boss Itzik Abergil's henchmen. Both suspects are being interrogated by police.

A witness told Haaretz earlier in the week that he saw Dror Alperon, probably along with his uncle Arieh Alperon, beating Motti Hasin in a brawl at the Sha'ar Ha'ir building last Thursday/ Hasin was lightly injured in the brawl.

The brawl apparently started following conflicts between Alperon and Abergil over the bottle recycling business, which they are both involved in.

According to a witness, "I recognized a tall, large man who was probably Arieh Alperon. Next to him I recognized Dror Alperon, who I remember well from television."

"The entire thing seemed spontaneous, something that got out of hand," the witness said. "The guy I recognized as Arieh suddenly got angry?and he hit someone's head using a two-way radio, and everyone tried to separate the two."

"I saw that that immediately afterwards, the guy I recognized as Dror Alperon went up to the man and told him: 'Look at the damage you caused,'" the witness added. "The guy ran away and Arieh and the kid one ran after him."

The witness further added that a policeman standing nearby tried to stay out of the way.

"I went up to him and told him what was going on, but he was alone and couldn't do anything."

The witness called the police, and they arrived 20 minutes later, he said.
