Mount Hermon ski resort to open Monday if snow continues
By Eli Ashkenazi, Haaretz Correspondent

Sources at the Mount Hermon ski resort said that if snow continues to fall through Sunday, ski areas will open to visitors on Monday. Over the weekend, large amounts of snow fell and the slopes were closed to visitors.

According to Menachem Baruch, head of the Mount Hermon ski resort, the lower areas of the mountain are covered in about 10 inches of snow, with the higher areas of the mountain under an even deeper cover of snow.

"We need another 6 inches of snow on the lower portions of the mountain in order to open the slopes to visitors."

A group of hikers on Friday decided to enter the snow-covered area of Mount Hermon by bypassing the security fence. Shortly thereafter, one of the hikers began to suffer from shortness of breath, and the group were evacuated from the mountain by IDF soldiers stationed nearby.
