17-year-old runs over, kills mother in Jezreel Valley tractor accident
By Roni Singer-Heruti and Mijal Grinberg, Haaretz Correspondents

A 17-year-old boy ran over and killed his mother, 45, in Moshav Beit Shearim in the Jezreel Valley on Friday.

The accident occurred while the mother and son were preparing to milk the family's cows. The mother, Smadar Feldman, made her way back to the house while her son, a licensed tractor driver, failed to notice her and hit her with the tractor.

Emergency medical services rushed to the scene, but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. Feldman was pronounced dead at the scene. The police launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The death of Smadar Feldman brought this weekend's death toll from vehicular accidents to eight. Earlier Friday, seven people were killed in five road accidents. Eight people were injured, six of them seriously.

Two young girls were killed in an accident near the Ashdod junction. Three people were killed in an accident near Be'er Sheva, and an additional person was killed in an accident near the southern town of Yeruham. A 22-year-old boy from Petah Tikva was also killed when his car crashed into a road barrier.

The first accident occurred on Road 42, between Yavne and the Ashdod junction, when a Ford vehicle, driving from the north to the south, deviated from its lane and crashed head on with a Fiat coming from the opposite direction. Two of the passengers in the Fiat, young girls, were killed. Three other youths were critically wounded. The driver of the Ford was moderately injured.

Magen David Adom paramedics and rescue teams arrived at the scene after receiving reports of trapped passengers.

Several hours later, three people were killed in an accident on Road 40 between Re'em Farms and Nokdim junction, near Be'er Sheva. Three vehicles were involved in the accident.

The third accident occurred at around 3:30 A.M. on Road 204 between Dimona and Yeruham, when a driver was killed when he deviated from his lane and collided with a car coming from the opposite direction. The driver of the other car was seriously injured, and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical assistance.

In Petah Tikva, 22-year-old Shahar Gas was killed while driving on Rabbi Malcha Street in the city. He lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a separation barrier, overturning his car. He was taken to Beilinson hospital in critical condition, where he later died of his injuries.
