Palestinians: Israel Navy fires on fishing vessel off Gaza shore
By The Associated Press and Itim

GAZA CITY - Palestinian security officials said Saturday that an Israel Navy boat fired toward a Palestinian fishing vessel off Gaza in what they called a first Israeli violation of a week-old truce in Gaza.

The vessel caught fire, but no one was hurt, the security officials said.

The Israel Defense Forces had no immediate comment.

Also in Gaza, an 11-year-old boy died of injuries he sustained two weeks ago in an Israeli military operation in the northern Gaza town of Beit Lahiya, hospital doctors said.

The boy died Saturday at Gaza City's Shifa Hospital.

A Palestinian youth was arrested on Saturday morning at the Hawara checkpoint near the West Bank city of Nablus after a pipe bomb was found on his person.

Troops found the 15 cm-long device on the youth in a regular checkup at a checkpoint outside the refugee camp. He was taken for investigation by the security forces. The device was safely detonated by sappers.

On Friday night, a Border Policeman was lightly hurt by rocks hurled at a patrol near Qalandiyah, south of the West Bank city of Ramallah.

He received treatment at the site.

Earlier Friday evening, gunshots were fired at Border Policemen in the same area. There were no casualties and no damage was reported.
