The Labor Federation announced Monday that several government offices and local councils will go on strike Wednesday in protest of debts owed by the government to council employees, religious councils, and firefighters.

An announcement will be made Tuesday evening on the offices that will go on strike.

The chairman of the Labor Federation, Ofer Eini, after consulting with the workers' council, announced that another reason for the strike is that payments have not been transferred to workers' pension funds.

"We announced a work dispute on July 12th, and then the war broke out," Eini said.

"Since announcing the dispute we have reached several settlements with the Finance and Interior Ministries regarding payment of debts to local authority workers, but these settlements have yet to be paid," he added.

Eini expressed hope that negotiations between representatives of the union and the ministries will begin before the strike commences.
