Knesset opens new school to train parliamentary aides
By Gideon Alon, Haaretz Correspondent

The Knesset is planning to open a new school to train parliamentary aides in matters of governance, Knesset Speaker Dahlia Itzik said on Thursday.

Itzik, who initiated the project, said the school will offer applicants courses in English, communications and governance. The school will be located on the Knesset premises.

In a letter dispatched to all 120 Knesset members, Itzik explained she decided to offer the courses after realizing many parliamentary aides lacked familiarity with the lawmaking process.

In private talks many aides admitted not knowing the difference between a common law and a Basic Law, Itzik said.
