Speaking before the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Diskin said that Israel has no good options in the Gaza Strip. "All the options are awful, and we must choose the least awful of all of them. Advertisement Since the disengagement, in addition to 30 tons of military-grade explosives, large quantities of arms and cash have been smuggled into the Strip through tunnels, Diskin said. Diskin emphasized that the dangers to Israel posed by the radical Popular Resistance Commitees may be greater than those of Hamas, because the PRC membership contains more extreme religious fundamentalists. He also told the committee that Hamas had lost popularity due to its difficulties in ruling the Authority. In a reference to the large-scale 2002 IDF campaign in the West Bank, Likud MK Yuval Steinitz, a former chairman of the committee, said that the only way to keep Gaza from turning into southern Lebanon was to launch an "Operation Defensive Shield II" and to recapture the Philadelphi route, the border between the Strip and Egypt. Qassam hits near kid's dorm Diskin spoke hours after a Qassam rocket fired from Gaza landed close to a children's dormitory on a Western Negev kibbutz Tuesday. There were no injuries, but the rocket caused light damage to the room and a nearby factory. The Israel Air Force on Monday night attacked a building used for storing weapons in Gaza City, the Israel Defense Forces spokesman said. No casualties were reported in the raid, and the Israel Defense Forces warned residents of the attack in advance. Also Monday night, IDF troops shot dead a Palestinian militant during a raid in the West Bank on Tuesday, Palestinian officials said. The clash took place in the Al-Ein refugee camp in the West Bank city of Nablus. Palestinian medical officials and sources in the camp named the militant as Baha Khatari, 26, a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine's military wing. An IDF spokeswoman said a force came under fire during an operation in the camp, including explosive devices hurled at them. She said the unit identified hitting a gunman in the clash.
