Police claim breakthrough in 2004 Shefayim nightclub murder
By Roni Singer-Haruti and Yuval Azoulay, Haaretz Correspondents and Itim

Police on Sunday arrested two Netanya residents suspected in the murder of an 18-year-old youth outside a Shefayim nightclub in December 2004.

A Netanya Magistrate's Court extended the remands of Francoise and Avi Abutbul, who are said not to be cooperating with investigators. Both have prior criminal records.

The arrests are considered a breakthrough in the investigation into the death of Ra'anan Levi of Rishon Letzion which had languished for almost two years.

Levi was stabbed to death in a brawl that took place in a parking lot. A border policeman was moderately wounded trying to stop the assailants.

On the night of the murder police held a number of suspects for questioning but carried out the first arrests today.
