Rabin assassin Amir enjoys his first conjugal visit
By Jonathan Lis

Yigal Amir, convicted assassin of prime minster Yitzhak Rabin and his wife Larissa Trimbobler spent eight hours together in the private room at Ayalon prison for conjugal meetings. The two met yesterday morning after the Shin Bet security service removed its objection to the visit based on concerns that Amir would take advantage of the situation to transmit messages to extremist elements outside the prison.

Trimbobler arrived at the prison at around 8 A.M. and after undergoing the usual security checks, she was allowed to enter the conjugal room, about 30 meters away from Amir's cell. No wardens or cameras were present in the room at any time during the visit.

The Prison Service permitted the visit since Amir is one of a relatively small group of prisoners who are not allowed furloughs. Since his marriage to Trimbobler was recognized by the state, the couple is entitled to conjugal visits once a month.

Sources in the Prison Service said yesterday that Amir spoke to the prison rabbi for guidance before the visit. The main purpose of the visits is the desire of the couple to bring a child into the world. Sources in the Prison Service confirmed to Haaretz that over the past months, Amir had legally transferred semen to Trimbobler for the purpose of artificial insemination.
