An IDF drone fired two missiles at rocket launchers in the northern Gaza Strip used to fire Qassams at Sderot, Israel Radio reported early Tuesday morning.

On Monday evening three Qassams landed in Sderot following a day of fighting in the Gaza Strip that left seven Palestinians dead.

Several people were treated for shock after two rockets hit the western Negev town, damaging three cars.

A third rocket hit an open area between Sderot and Kibbutz Or Haner.

At least seven Palestinians, including three civilians, were killed and 35others injured in a clash between armed militants and Israel Defense Forces soldiers in the northern Gaza Strip on Monday.

Four of the dead men were armed and one was a senior member of the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC).

The PRC, an umbrella of Palestinian militant groups in Gaza, said the target of the IDF operation appeared to be Ata Shindari, who led the group's rocket-launching branch.

Shindari and one of his brothers were killed by the IDF, Abu Abir, the group's spokesman said.

PRC spokesman Abu Abir vowed revenge for Shimbari's death.

"This is the calm before the storm," he told a news conference.

Palestinian hospital officials said the dead included three brothers and their cousin.

Some 20 other Palestinians were wounded by gunfire near the village of Beit Hanun.

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said the IDF operation in northern Gaza was a "loathsome massacre carried out, of all days, on the first day of Eid al-Fitr."

Abbas called on the international community to intervene in order to prevent a further deterioration.

Morning ambush
A reconnaissance unit of the Givati infantry brigade lay in ambush before dawn Monday in a location between Beit Hanun and Beit Lahia as part of efforts to combat Qassam rocket cells.

On Monday morning, the IDF team identified and opened fire on a group of armed men, hitting 10 of them and killing at least seven.

The IDF said it was operating against Palestinian militants on a mission to launch rockets at southern Israel.

There were no Israeli casualties in the incident.

Gunfire at a mourning tent
Local residents said IDF fire initially killed three gunmen paying a condolence call at a mourning tent set up by a family of a militant shot dead by IDF soldiers in an earlier incident.

Believing the shooting was coming from the home of neighbors locked in a feud with the grieving family, other militants in the tent began firing at the house, townspeople said.

Realizing their mistake, they then directed their fire towards IDF troops and a gun battle ensued, the residents said.

When the smoke cleared, seven Palestinians were dead and some 20 wounded, a Palestinian Health Ministry official said, blaming IDF gunfire for all the casualties and basing his account on information from ambulance crews at the scene.

IDF kills gunman near Jenin
In the West Bank near Jenin on Sunday night, IDF troops killed a Palestinian gunman during an arrest raid.

Mohammed Uda, 23, was killed by IDF gunfire as troops searched the village of Tamun to arrest Islamic Jihad activist Bashar Bani Uda.
