First he co-founded Check Point Software Technologies (Nasdaq: CHKP). Then he founded Imperva http://www.imperva.com/. Both engage in data security, clearly an area in which Israeli hi-tech serial entrepreneur Shlomo Kramer feels comfortable.
Now he's founded another startup, Trusteer, which is another sort of data security company: it is working on technology to protect online consumers against cyberthreats. The company, located in Ramat Gan, wants consumers to be able to trust e-commerce sites.
Apparently Transteer will be managed by another founder of Imperva, namely Mickey Boodaei, who also owns shares in the brand-new startup.
Broadly speaking, Trusteer wants to protect surfers from phishers, who steal identities in order to steal material goods. Its products should be available from 2007.
Phishing is believed to cause damage of some $46 billion a year, according to the U.S. government.
Security market sources say that Trusteer has closed its first financing round and is recruiting talent for R&D.
