IDF denies ties to death of Palestinian man near Nablus
By Amos Harel and Yoav Stern, Haaretz Correspondents, and Haaretz Service

A Palestinian man was shot and killed near the West Bank city of Nablus Sunday afternoon on his way to break the Ramadan fast with family, relatives said.

Relatives said Ahmed Yousef Tirawi, 25, was walking with his wife on a path off limits to Palestinians when soldiers fired a single bullet to his head, killing him.

The Israel Defense Forces said it was unaware of any shooting incident in the area and its forces had not opened fire.

IDF kills Nablus militant
IDF troops shot dead a member of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades on Sunday morning in the Balata refugee camp in the West Bank city of Nablus.

Israel Radio said that the Fatah man was killed when militants hurled an explosive device and shot at soldiers in the refugee camp.

The soldiers exchanged fire with the Palestinians, killing the man and wounding three others.

Palestinians named the man as Osama Saleh, from the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, a militant faction of the Fatah party.

Five arrested as clashes break out at protest
Five people were arrested Sunday as left-wing activists and Palestinian farmers scuffled with police at a checkpoint near Jerusalem, during a protest over restrictions on the export of Palestinian produce.

Members of the Ta'ayush organization and Palestinians from the villages of El-Khader and Beit Omar initially tried to march to Jerusalem to protest an Israeli ban on the sale of local grapes, which has a serious impact on the farmers' revenues, but were stopped at the Tunnels Checkpoint. The demonstrators then scattered one ton of grapes on the ground, after which the clashes erupted.

Three Israelis, a Palestinian and a woman foreign activist were arrested during the incident.

Ta'ayush activist Ezra Nawi said that the demonstration was organized in conjunction with the heads of local Palestinian villages as a non-violent protest against the occupation and the construction of the separation fence in the area.
