Plane crashes at Herzliya airport; third accident in two months
By Zohar Blumenkrantz, Haaretz Correspondent

A Cessna plane crashed Thursday morning at the Herzliya airport, after the pilot lost control of the aircraft and collided into a warehouse. No injuries were reported.

This is the third accident at the airport in the past two months. In the previous accidents, three people were lightly injured.

In the first of the series of accidents, a student pilot was injured when he tried landing too low, crashed into trees at the side of the runway and finally crashed into a plane that was at a standstill on the runway.

Three weeks ago, a light Cherokee 4 plane crashed near a residential building in a populated area close to the airport. Two pilots were lightly injured.

As with the previous accidents, the Civil Aviation Authority opened an investigation into Thursday's crash.

Area residents are worried about the frequency of these accidents, and have been advocating the airport's relocation out of concern for their safety. One possibility is to move the airport, which is mainly used by private business jets, to the south of the country.
