Olmert abandons drive for further pullout

Olmert came to power on a pledge to determine Israel's permanent borders by means of a unilateral pullout in the West Bank.

But repeated Qassam attacks following the pullout from Gaza, coupled with the Hezbollah attacks from Lebanon, sapped support for the plan, which Olmert was forced to shelve.
