Earthquake measuring 4.4 shakes central Israel

An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale shook central Israel early Saturday, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

The temblor struck at around 8 A.M., and was felt in the Sharon region, the Tel Aviv area, Petah Tikva, Kfar Sava, Ra'anana, Netanya and communities.

The epicenter of the quake was located in Ma'ale Ephraim, in the northern Jordan Valley.

Minor earthquakes are not uncommon in Israel and its neighboring countries.
