4 Palestinians killed, 10 hurt in clashes with IDF near Jenin

Four Palestinians were killed and ten were injured Thursday in exchanges of fire between wanted militants and undercover Israel Defense Forces troops in the village of Kabatiya, near Jenin.

Two of the fatalities were identified as senior Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades militants Rashid Zachraneh and Ashraf Zachraneh. A member of the Palestinian security apparatus, Kaid Zachraneh, was also killed, as was civilian Muhammed Abu Rub, 30.

Two of the wounded, hurt during clashes between Palestinians throwing rocks and soldiers in the village, were in serious condition.

The exchanges of fire, which lasted several hours, began after IDF troops surrounded the house of Rashid Zakarna, in Kabatiya.

No IDF soldiers were wounded in the incident.
Police nab Ramallah man suspected of stabbing Israeli
Police officers arrested a Ramallah man suspected of stabbing and moderately wounding Ran Shimon, 63, in the Atarot industrial zone, north of Jerusalem, on Tuesday. The suspect, 24, admitted during his interrogation that he stabbed Shimon in the shoulder.

The suspect was located after large police contingents searched the industrial zone following the stabbing.

The suspect said that a year and a half ago, he planned to carry out a terror attack at the French Hill junction in Jerusalem, but changed his mind when he reached the site.

Police were of the opinion that the motive for the Tuesday's attack was nationalist, as hundreds of Palestinian workers arrive at the industrial zone every morning.

Jerusalem Magistrates Court Judge Yitzhak Shimoni placed a gag order on the case on Tuesday afternoon, following a request by investigators.
