Bar-On: All Zionist parties should be included in coalition
By Itim

Interior Minister Roni Bar-On on Thursday called for the expansion of the government and the inclusion of all Zionist parties in the coalition.

"The lack of stability and capability in the government is a cause of the defective political structure and methods," Bar-On said in an address to a "Business Forum" meeting at Bar-Ilan University.

"The structural failure in the political system severely damages the public's faith in the entire political establishment. How can we expect to advance issues when the life expectancy of a minister in a governmental office is less than two years?" he said.

In regard to the kidnapped soldiers, Bar-On said, "the prime minister vowed to do all he could to bring the soldiers home. As I know this man, I believe he will stand by his word."

President of Bar-Ilan University, Professor Moshe Kaveh, called for the government to solve immediately the dire budgetary problems facing Israeli universities.

Kaveh asked Bar-On to bring the budget issue up in a government meeting this Sunday.

Kaveh stated, "The only advantage that we have as a people is our education and knowledge. If we don't solve the budgetary problems of higher education in Israel, the coming academic year will not begin."
