Company must pay NIS 300,000 to woman fired during pregnancy
By Einav Ben Yehuda, Haaretz Correspondents

The Jerusalem Labor Court on Monday ruled that a manpower company that fired a woman employee during her her seventh month of pregnancy must pay the former employee NIS 300,000 in compensation.

According to the court, the woman was fired illegally, without the approval of the Trade, Industry and Employment Ministry's supervisor of women Labor.

The court ruled the branch manager and the regional manager of the company, ISS Watch Ltd., personally responsible for the women's dismissal, in accordance with the law granting equal opportunity in the work place.

The company is required to compensate the woman for dismissal, and for damages, loss of childbirth allowance and personal distress.

"The court finds the complainant's version authentic and convincing. In comparison, the respondents presented testimony which was inexact, to put it mildly, with many cracks," Judge Sarah Shdiur wrote in her ruling.
