Two people died in a Tel Aviv house fire early Thursday morning, with 10others suffering light injuries as a result of smoke inhalation.

At 1:22 A.M., Magen David Adom emergency services received a report indicating a fire had erupted in an apartment building situated on the corner of Herzl and Wolfson streets, in Tel Aviv's south side.

Four ambulances rushed to the scene of the fire, extracting the bodies of who they think may be two migrant workers, a man and a woman both in their 30s.

Ten other people were treated for smoke inhalation-related injuries, with 5 of those evacuated to a nearby hospital.

An initial investigation found that the fire was caused by a lit cigarette thrown into the trash can in the stairwell.

Earlier, Channel 10 quoted the police officer in change of Tel Aviv's southern neighborhood as saying that a preliminary investigation had shown the cause of the fire to be a short circuit.
