Modi'in to get 'electric Internet' trial

On Friday we reported here that "a city to be decided" will be the site for a trial of Internet and telephony services via the electricity infrastructure. Now we can tell you that Modi'in is the formerly undecided city to try out the new data transfer method. Starting speed for download and upload (receiving and sending) of data will be 25 megabits per second, with speeds of up to 1 gigabyte per second at least a theoretical possibility. The exact date of the trial, in which Partner Communications (Orange) will be handling the Internet side of things while the Israel Electric Corporation delivers the juice, is still "to be decided," but that should be within a few months.
