IDF shoots Palestinian woman carrying toy gun near Nablus

Israel Defense Forces troops early Friday shot and moderately wounded Palestinian woman holding a toy gun near a Nablus-area checkpoint.

Troops shot at the woman after she ignored their request to stop. The woman sustained wounds to her legs and was evacuated to hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the IDF said Friday that there was a possibility that troops' tank fire killed a teenager in the Gaza Strip a day earlier. On Thursday, the IDF said that the 17-year-old died as a result of Palestinian mortar fire..

The teenager was killed and several other Palestinians wounded in a blast in central Gaza near the Israeli border. Hamas security officials charged that an Israeli tank shell was to blame.

The IDF said following the incident soldiers returned mortar fire, but did not use tank shells, after they came under Palestinian fire across the border in central Gaza.

IDF sources said that Palestinian militants had been firing mortar shells when the blast occurred, and they believed that it was possible that Palestinian mortar fire caused the casualties.
