A temporary Knesset employee has been diagnosed with the H1N1 virus, known as swine flu, sources in the parliament said on Sunday.

The Knesset administration declined to reveal the employee's name, but said he was being treated in keeping with existing guidelines and was in "excellent" condition.

No other infections among Knesset employees, members or visitors have been reported.

As a result of the first reported infection Knesset director general Dan Landau contacted the Health Ministry to see if any precautions were in order.

In reply the ministry's head of public health services, Dr. Itamar Grotto said that according to the ministry's guidelines those who came in contact with the infected worker were not presently obliged to undergo special tests.

However, Dr. Grotto stressed that anyone coming down with either high fever, mucus, sore throat, cough, muscle aches or shortness of breath within a week of contact is advised to see a doctor.

Seven more cases of swine flu were confirmed over the last few days, bringing the total number of infected Israelis to 48, according to the Health Ministry.
