MK Tibi meets with regional leaders at Arab summit in Qatar

Israeli Arab MK Ahmed Tibi was meeting with regional leaders on the sidelines of an Arab summit in Doha.

Tibi, a lawmaker with the Ra'am Ta'al party, was invited to the summit by the Qatari government. Tibi told reporters on Sunday that he was holding talks with officials from Yemen and other Arab states, but would not give further details of his conference itinerary.

Tibi is well-known for his close ties with the Qatari emir, from whom he recruited major funds to renovate the soccer stadium in the northern town of Sakhnin.

The MK told reporters that he was attending the Arab summit of his own accord, and not as a representative of any formal body.
