At least six Gaza rockets hit southern Israel

At least six rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel Saturday, with one striking next to a school in Ashkelon and another striking an open field in the city.

The other rockets hit open fields in the Eshkol and Sdot Hanegev Regional Council areas.

No injuries or damage were reported.

An Israel Defense Forces spokesman said the Ashkelon school was closed, averting injuries.

Several people were treated for shock by paramedics who arrived at the scene.

On Friday night, a Qassam rocket fired from Gaza hit the Sdot Hanegev area. No casualties or damage were reported in the incident.

Earlier on Friday, a rocket struck the western Negev, following two rockets fired on Thursday.

The rocket fire highlights the fragility of the truce between Israel and
Gaza's ruling militant group Hamas. The truce ended Israel's three-week offensive in the coastal strip.
