Holocaust-denying bishop back in U.K. after expelled from Argentina
By The Associated Press

A British bishop whose denial of the Holocaust led Argentina to expel him arrived on Wednesday in London.

Roman Catholic Bishop Richard Williamson returned after being ousted amid criticism that followed a television interview in which he asserted that no Jews were gassed during the Holocaust.

The statements embarrassed the Vatican at a time it has been trying to improve relations with Jews.

Williamson's remarks drew attention because he is part of an ultraconservative society that Pope Benedict XVI was seeking to bring back under Vatican control.

The pope sought to heal a rift with the ultraconservatives earlier this year by lifting an excommunication decree on Williamson and other bishops consecrated without Vatican approval.
