Livni addresses gender issues: I make decisions, not coffee

In a recent conversation with college students, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni addressed the role gender issues are playing in the election campaign.

"The public seems to think that when the Prime Minister, Defense Minister and Foreign Minister, two men and a woman sit together, the men reach the decision and the woman is just there. Let it be known, I make decisions there, not coffee," said Livni.

Livni added that "There is a twisted logic that links defense issues and men. But making the right decision involves one's ability to analyze a given situation, foresee future events, consult with the chief of staff, raise public support and make the decision. In this process, no man and no general has an advantage over me."
