Basketball / Club signs ex-NBA guard Dee Brown
By Haaretz Staff
Tags: Israel News

Maccabi Tel Aviv yesterday bolstered its team in much need of strengthening by signing point guard Daniel "Dee" Brown.

The 24-year-old Brown was a star in college and yet failed to have an impact on the NBA teams he played for, which included Utah, Washington and Phoenix. He previously played at Turkish team Galatasaray briefly before returning to play for the Washington Wizards, which needed a replacement for its injured point guard. Brown averaged 14 points per game for the Turkish team.

Another name rumored to be short-listed by Maccabi is that of Andre Brown (no relation to Dee). The 2.07m American power forward has played for a number of NBA outfits, including the Seattle Supersonics and the Memphis Grizzlies.

Hasharon cools Haifa Heat

Bnei Hasharon beat Maccabi Haifa Heat yesterday 75:70 despite showing up for the game without many of its players, who had been sidelined by injuries. Bnei Hasharon scorer Meir Tapiro was in poor form, contributing only nine points, but foreign players Richard Roby and Ousmane Cisse stepped in and racked up 21 and 19 points, respectively.
