Maccabi Tel Aviv arrived in Spain yesterday for its Euroleague game tomorrow against Malaga amid tight security and travel restrictions. "There are enough policemen here to hold a game against," Maccabi Tel Aviv coach Pini Gershon quipped. Organizers decided to cancel the ceremony before the match and not to play the national anthems of both teams as per custom. Public opinion in Spain leans strongly in favor of the Palestinians and Madrid is often critical of Israeli policies. (Gil Shefler)

Hapoel Tel Aviv yesterday advanced to the semifinals of the Toto Cup after defeating Maccabi Haifa 6-4 in a penalty shootout. Regular time ended with Maccabi Haifa up 2-0, tying the previous leg, which Hapoel Tel Aviv won at 2-2. Despite the defeat, Maccabi Haifa coach Elisha Levi said the match was one of the league leader's best this season. "We were better by all the parameters and were always in their side of the pitch," Levi said. (Haaretz Staff)
