Lebanon arrests 7 after last week?s rocket attack
The Lebanese army arrested seven people over the weekend suspected of involvement in firing rockets at Israel last Thursday. Lebanon has not released details on the suspects or said if they belonged to a specific organization. UN observers discovered a concealed bunker in southern Lebanon containing 35 Grad rockets and one rocket launcher. The observers said the bunker did not seem to have been in use recently and that it was probably last used by Hezbollah in 2006 during the Second Lebanon War. (Yoav Stern)

gypt and Jordan resisted calls over the weekend to follow Venezuela and Mauritania, which have recalled their ambassadors to Israel to protest its operation in the Gaza Strip. "Our stand is firm and well known," an Egyptian official said yesterday. Since the start of the fighting, Cairo has gained importance as a mediator between Israel and the Palestinians. "We'll expel the ambassador and then what? We have to hold talks with everyone," Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was recorded as telling officials in the past, regarding the ambassador to Israel. Ex-Katsav lawyer says quit over news conference
The former attorney for Moshe Katsav said yesterday the latter's January 2007 press conference was the catalyst that convinced him to stop representing the former president. In that press conference, Katsav accused the media of convicting him of rape and sexual harassment before the evidence was in. At a criminal-law conference in Eilat, Prof. David Libai called the speech a "concentrated attack on law enforcement institutions, the state prosecutor, police and media. It is his right to wage that attack, but he should do so from the privacy of his home, not the President's Residence." (Ofra Edelman)

B-G Airport to test new navigation, landing system
Trial flights will begin today at Ben-Gurion International Airport for a new navigation system allowing planes to make automatic landings, even in bad weather. The system, which falls under the category Localizer Type Directional Aid, provides runway guidance to aircraft. It was installed by the Israel Airports Authority after the Lapidot Committee's recommendations on airline safety and a U.S. Federal Aviation Administration report lowering Israel's safety rating. 3 indicted in Yemen espionage probe
Three men appeared in court yesterday in the Yemeni capital of Sana on suspicion of sending Prime Minister Ehud Olmert an e-mail offering to work for Israeli intelligence. The indictment claims that the suspects, detained last year, presented themselves as Islamic Jihad members and claimed they took part in the U.S. embassy bombings that killed 19 people in September.

The indictment also says they demanded money from the governments of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The men have denied the charges against them, calling them the work of a senior police official with whom they had a dispute. (Haaretz Staff)
