IDF unveils Hamas battle map seized by paratroopers in Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces presented for reporters an illustrated map by made by Hamas gunmen that was found during a raid in the Strip, which reportedly illustrates ways in which they could attack IDF troops in Gaza.

The map shows a drawing of the battlegrounds in a particular area of northern Gaza, with breakdowns of where to deploy and where to lay explosive devices.

The areas where the explosives were to be laid are heavily populated urban areas.

The map was captured by IDF troops from the Paratroopers' Brigade during a raid this week in the town of Al-Atra.

A Military Intelligence officer who was embedded with the troops examined the map and translated the Arabic for the soldiers.

Intelligence Officer Lieutenant General Yuval Halmish presented the map to reporters in Tel Aviv on Thursday, and said that it contained strategic directives for Hamas gunmen battling IDF troops.

Halmish said the map also highlighted the locations of snipers hiding out in area mosques.
