Soccer / Hapoel TA beats leaders Haifa 2-0 By Haaretz Staff Some 7,000 fans, including about 300 people bused in from the south, watched Hapoel Tel Aviv defeat Maccabi Haifa yesterday in the first leg of the Toto Cup quarterfinals. Hapoel Tel Aviv managed to dominate first-place Haifa despite the absence of a number of key players such as Samuel Yeboah, who flew back to his native Ghana to take part in his mother's funeral, and the injuries of Eran Zahavi and other players. The French exodus Meanwhile, Maccabi Tel Aviv was continuing to have a hard time carrying out the whole-sale of its French contingent. A senior Strasbourg soccer club official said the French club had no plans to sign Rudy Haddad, Maccabi Tel Aviv's French-born player. Haddad made aliyah to Israel when he moved here last year. "We're not interested in signing Rudy Haddad," he said yesterday. "His candidacy was never relevant." Meanwhile, Haddad's agent is looking for a club in France to accept Haddad and fellow Frenchman and Maccabi Tel Aviv teammate Jonathan Assous. "It's difficult to find them a place because of the financial situation," their agent said.
