Hamas official: We must lay foundation for a tomorrow without Zionists
By News agencies

Leading Hamas official Mahmoud a-Zahar urged Gaza Strip residents Sunday to bear the IDF offensive, saying Hamas will prevail in the end.

"Victory is near, the problem is not the missiles, but the occupation and the siege," a-Zahar said.

A-Zahar called on Israel to halt its aggression, withdraw its forces from Gaza and to open border crossings.

He made the comments on Hamas television network al-Aqsa. It is unclear where the interview took place, or if the recording was made in advance.

The Hamas minister praised the organization's fighters, saying it was their duty to smash the "Zionist enemy". He also hinted that the group's armed wing would try to strike at Israeli civilian targets.

"Israel is preparing for the slaughter of its citizens, just as it is killing our people in the Gaza Strip," he said. "They legalized for us knocking down their synagogues when they hit our mosques, they legalized for us knocking down their schools when they hit our schools," he said in a speech.

Hamas "must lay the foundation for a tomorrow without Zionists," he said.
