Tel Aviv, Rishon Letzion prepare bomb shelters in case of attack

Residents of Tel Aviv and Rishon Letzion have no interest in being caught unprepared if Palestinian rocket fire begins to hit their environs, and have begun renovating public bomb shelters and updating emergency procedures.

Rishon Letzion authorities told residents to begin preparing bomb shelters so they can be ready "for any possible scenario."

Municipal authorities stressed that the move does not mean the city is under the threat of attack, but they want residents to practice the utmost caution and be prepared for any circumstance.

Tel Aviv authorities decided to update their emergency response guidelines, as a result of the fighting in Gaza. At a special meeting held at City Hall Wednesday, new emergency guidelines were discussed, as well as ways to accommodate citizens of the south who have fled their homes.

Deputy head of city hall Robbie Zaloff said "it's true that as of today there is no direct threat to Tel Aviv?but we are nonetheless adjusting our emergency guidelines as need be.

At Wednesday's meeting, it was decided that the city will ensure that public shelters are set up to be used in event of an emergency.

The city will also distribute flyers at high-rise apartment buildings showing suggested ways of preparing the building's shelters.
