Elections in Brief Both Kadima head Tzipi Livni and Likud chairman Benjamin Netanyahu have assembled a security forum starring a former chief of staff for their parties, Shaul Mofaz and Moshe Ya'alon, respectively. On Monday, Livni convened her forum to discuss developments in Gaza and yesterday, Netanyahu gathered his generals at Tel Aviv's Metzudat Ze'ev. In both instances the media was invited for a photo opportunity prior to the meeting. Livni's group was created several weeks ago and has met a few times. In addition to Mofaz, its members include former Shin Bet Security Service head Avi Dichter, former deputy Shin Bet heads Gideon Ezra and Israel Hasson and Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Chairman Tzachi Hanegbi. (Mazal Mualem) Former journalist Uri Orbach will be the campaign manager of Habayit Hayehudi, senior party officials recently decided. The religious Zionist party hopes that Orbach's media experience will be useful in promoting its agenda. Orbach, who is fifth on the party's roster, has over 20 years of experience as a journalist and radio presenter. He is also a published author. Meanwhile, Chairman Daniel Hershkowitz approached MK Uri Ariel in an effort to dissuade him from joining the Hatikva party, headed by MK Arieh Eldad. Ariel is demanding to be included in the party's decision-making hierarchy. Incumbent leader Rafi Eitan will remain first on the list while the second place will go to former journalist Gidon Reicher. Former Labor party lawmaker Yossi Katz is third; current Health Minister Yacov Ben Yizri fourth; lyricist Shimrit Or fifth; Avraham Tuvul, who heads an organization of Holocaust survivors interned at the Dachau concentration camp during the second world war is sixth, and former union leader Yehoshua Peretz eighth. The Pensioners Party's prospects have recently improved with the latest polls predicting they will enter the Knesset. The party won an unexpected seven Knesset seats in the last elections. (Roni Singer-Heruti) MKs Shelly Yachimovich and Ophir Pines-Paz went on a pub crawl Wednesday night, trying to persuade young voters to support the Labor party in the upcoming elections. The lawmakers visited a number of drinking establishments in the Tel Aviv port area, accompanied by members of the Young Labor movement. Maayan Amudai, the head of the Young Labor movement, said he and his friends intend to carry out a number of provocations, like handing out prophylactics with the sentence "don't let [Likud leader Benjamin] Netanyahu screw you" written on them. "As the youth of the party we plan on being naughtier than what the party can allow itself," Amudai said. (Roni Singer Heruti) Police have still not decided whether to open an investigation into alleged fraud during Kadima's primary election. Maj. Gen. Yohanan Danino, the head of police investigations and intelligence, has not yet received a complaint or the findings by Channel 1 reporter Ayala Hasson, who first reported the allegations. Police are now waiting for the complaint to pass through bureaucratic channels before a decision on the case is made.
