Tight budget stymies Hapoel Tel Aviv's run
By Yaniv Kobovic

Hapoel Tel Aviv may be hovering near the top of soccer's Premier League table, but neither its current nor designated owners are willing to dig too deeply to give the club a push toward the title.

Team management is set to meet in the coming days, where sources familiar with the situation say coach Eli Guttman will hear that large sums will not be forthcoming during the January transfer window.

While owner Moni Harel is busy with financial problems, Eli Tabib has already told team officials he does not plan to open up his wallet.

Guttman's only option Guttman will be releasing pricey players. The first to go is likely Reuven Oved, who is wanted by Bnei Sakhnin and Hakoah Ramat Gan. Next up, say the sources, is Idan Srur. Associates of Srur say his fate will be determined in the next few weeks, but that no other league teams are interested in him.

Releasing Dimitar Telkiyski back to Sofia would free up the most money, but the Bulgarian club apparently wants Elin Topuzakov back instead.
