Jordan's Queen Rania on Sunday accepted an award from Internet video-sharing Web site YouTube for her efforts to help prevent Muslims and Arabs from being stereotyped.

YouTube bestowed Rania, the wife of King Abdullah II, with a Visionary Award for launching her own channel in April on the site, which encourages young people to address the issue of stereotyping. The Queen accepted her award during a ceremony marking YouTube's first live broadcast.

The Visionary Award is granted to those who use technology to generate social change. "The clips that Queen Rania posted created a productive dialogue among thousands of respondents and millions of viewers worldwide," said a presenter at the ceremony.

In a clip aired during the broadcast, Her Majesty said that her aim is for people to recognize the real Arab world, and she added that YouTube is an excellent platform that must be used to achieve that goal.

Nearly three million viewers have watched ? and more than 40,000 have commented - on the clips on Queen Rania's channel since its launch in April.

In a statement, the Queen said, "YouTube encourages us to be active participants in a global conversation, making our voices heard, giving us the power to broadcast ourselves, increasing knowledge of each other, breaking down the barriers between us clip by clip."
