Israeli restaurant scene feeling brunt of economic slowdown

With recession in the air, people are indulging less and less in luxuries. The Israeli restaurant scene, so recently a burgeoning sector, is feeling the brunt of the economic slowdown.

Restaurants, particularly high-end ones, are forced to fight over clients by finding way to make their pricey menus more attractive.

Fifty-two percent of recently polled restaurant owners said that they lowered prices recently or will do so soon. Thrity-six percent plan on adjusting their menus to offer cheaper dishes, and ten percent intend to fire personnel.
