Elitzur Ramle yesterday won one of its biggest victories ever, defeating Spanish league leader Rivasecopolis 73-61 in Spain and clinching first place in Group C of the women's basketball EuroCup preliminary round. "The Spaniards gave us terrible conditions," said coach Eli Rabi. "We had to practice at 9 P.M. and 9 A.M., but the ladies rose to the occasion. It was a test of character." LaTanya White led Ramle with 19 points, while Nkolika Anosike registered a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

In a drastic attempt to bring fans back to Premier League games, the Israel Football Association announced this week a plan to limit ticket prices to NIS 50 per adult next season. Teams in major cities currently charge as much as NIS 80. Avi Luzon, the IFA chairman, said those teams in future which prove the new policy undercuts revenue would be compensated, and that he has set aside NIS 4 million for such cases. "I want the whole family to be at soccer matches," said Luzon.

Greek soccer club Asteras Tripolis is courting Israeli coach Avram Grant, the team's chairman said yesterday. The team is just above the relegation zone solely on goal differential and has only one win in ten matches.
