The Jerusalem nightclub Haoman 17 was hit by a class action motion yesterday for cramming 3,500 people into a room meant for 700. The three plaintiffs had bought tickets to a July performance by DJ Tiesto. The suit, filed in Jerusalem District Court, claims the place was so crowded it was impossible to breathe and was dangerous. Claiming club owner Reuven Lublin deceived customers, the plaintiffs are demanding compensation of NIS 1,000 per customer, including a NIS 200 refund for the ticket. Lublin: "Anyone who asked for money back, got it. The suit is for the publicity." (Amit Benaroia)

Alitalia filed for protection from its Israeli creditors yesterday, asking the Tel Aviv District Court to let it continue operations, including flights to and from Israel. A Roman court declared the company bankrupt in September, after it ran up debts of more than ?2.8 billion. The Italian court order allows the airline to continue to operate. Alitalia's Israeli branch is legally a foreign company, and is included in the Italian ruling; Alitalia says non-enforcement of the Italian ruling in Israel would impair its ability to continue flights here and employ workers. The airline says it is continuing operations in Israel as usual. Judge Varda Alsech said yesterday that it seems to be a matter of enforcing a foreign order - which is not possible, due to how the request was presented. (Hila Raz)

The Arison Group is expanding its solar energy operation into power generation. The Arison company Housing and Construction Environment said y+sterday that it's establishing a subsidiary, named Solaria, which will plan, market and install photovoltaic solar panels for households and businesses. These by the way may sell any excess power to the Electric Corporation under incentives for solar generation that took effect July 1. They can get NIS 2.01 per kilowatt-hour from the IEC, compared to the NIS 0.50 per kilowatt-hour consumers pay to the utility. (Avi Bar-Eli)

Pharmaceuticals firm Perrigo yesterday announced it was raising its quarterly dividend by 10%, to 5.5 cents per share. The dividend is payable on December 16 to shareholders of record on November 28. Perrigo shares were trading yesterday at $34.29, giving the firm a market value of $3.2 billion. (Shmuel Shuster)

Private sector representatives met yesterday afternoon to protest water price increases, which may reach 300% for industrial use, and demanded the cabinet bring back price supervision for water. Manufacturers Association President Shraga Brosh said they have hired lawyers to examine how to change the law, which Brosh said will cost factories an additional NIS 350 million a year. The business leaders said they did not understand why industry should continue to subsidize farmers and well-off local authorities, such as Kfar Shmaryahu. (Ora Coren)
