Cabinet rules to cease funding illegal West Bank outposts

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's cabinet decided on Sunday in its weekly meeting to cease immediately government funding to illegal outposts and their infrastructures.

The ministerial decision rules out all such funding, direct or otherwise, and ensures that legal action will be taken against any violations made by public service workers.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak promised to submit to the cabinet within two weeks details of steps being taken now on the matter of outposts and disruption of order in the West Bank.

The defense establishment and the justice minister must now draft an amendment for every instance where the current legal measures have proven ineffective.
