An Ashdod man was arrested on Sunday for stabbing his ex-wife to death at the entrance to her apartment building.

On Sunday afternoon, 57-year-old Zilo Fadida allegedly dragged Rosey Fadida out of her apartment and stabbed her multiple times in front of passersby.

Rosey's friend heard shouting and came down from a nearby building where Rosey was yelling, "He's stabbing me! He's killing me." Neighbors said Fadida struck Rosey on the head with a rock, in addition to stabbing her with a knife. Fadida threatened neighbors who tried to come to Rosey's aid with the knife.

According to a neighbor, after stabbing her, Fadida slit Rosey's throat to ensure she was dead. Fadida then called his son and told him, "I just killed your mother."

Police said they were on the scene within 10 minutes and an ambulance arrived within 15 minutes.

The couple have three adult children. After several separations and reconciliations, Rosey filed a restraining order against Zilo two months ago.

One of Rosey's friends said that on Yom Kippur, Rosey told her that Zilo had threatened her life. Neighbors said the pair had argued about property, including the apartment.

Other neighbors claimed Rosey was in a relationship with another man and Zilo was in a jealous rage.

Zilo has a criminal record of property and violent offenses. A year ago, Zilo complained to police of violence on the part of his wife.

The remand of the accused was extended by 10 days on Monday, after he confessed details of the incident during questioning. Evidence at the crime scene also strengthened the suspicions.

Zilo's lawyer, Sharon Galil, requested that he be sent to undergo psychiatric evaluation. However, in deciding to extend his remand, the judge said Zilo could be examined by his own doctor.
