VIDEO / Comic tells U.S. Jews to make sure their bubbes vote Obama

Prominent American Jewish comedian Sarah Silverman has posted a video on YouTube calling on her coreligionists to make sure their grandparents in Florida vote for Barack Obama.

In the clip titled "The Great Schlep," Silverman cites the example of President George W. Bush's victory in 2000 as proof that presidential elections can be decided by the southern state, a popular home for Jewish American retirees.

Readers should note that the video contains strong language.




"I'm making this video to urge you, all of you, to schlep over to Florida and convince your grandparents to vote Obama. It can make the difference," says Silverman in the clip.

At one point, the comedian lists the similarities between American Jews and African Americans, the Democratic candidate's demographic group. She says that just as the later group likes to say "Yo" a lot, Jews do the same - except backwards, in "Oy."

Silverman also notes that Obama's first name Barack meant "lightning" in Hebrew, while his Republican rival John McCain's meant "toilet" in English.
