Livni denies offering Mofaz senior role in future coalition

Tzipi Livni's aides on Sunday denied that the foreign minister and Kadima chairwoman has offered Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz a senior ministerial position should she be charged with forming the next government.

Livni called Mofaz on Friday and told him she hopes he will be part of her government and continue to play a part in the leadership of Kadima.

It was the first time they had spoken since the party's primary election. The two are expected to meet again later in the week.

She was expected to offer Mofaz the position of Foreign Minister and deputy Prime Minister if she is able to form a government.

Officials from Livni's staff told Army Radio on Sunday, however, that she has not yet begun the task of delegating positions for a future government - "not to anyone, and not to Shaul Mofaz."

Staff officials are expected to hold talks with Shas party members as part of coalition talks.

Coalition talks have still failed to bring the formation of a never government.
