Police list reveals Abergil family assets
By Jonathan Lis
Tags: crime, Abergil

Dozens of vehicles, 37 companies and 48 apartments are some of the assets in the possession of the Abergil family, which police believe to be a crime cartel.

The list, which Haaretz recently obtained, was compiled by police in 2004. At the time, one head of the Abergil clan, Yitzhak, was in the U.S., where authorities believe he partook in murder, money laundering and drug smuggling. He was arrested in Israel last month with his brother, Meir. U.S, authorities have requested that both men be extradited to face charges for their alleged crimes.

The records about the Abergils' assets were compiled by the Central District's unit for money-laundering crimes. Some of the assets are listed as owned by the wives of Meir and Yitzhak Abergil, or by other relatives. But people who police believe to be high-ranking position holders within the "crime family," as police calls the Abergils, are also listed as owning property.

Shimon Zrihan, for example, who was indicted for killing another reputed crime figure, is listed as owning three firms and a BMW minivan. The Abergils' vehicular fleet included two Mercedes cars, four boats, a horse trailer and six BMW cars.

The companies listed as owned by the Abergils and people believed to be their associates include human resources agencies, investment firms, tobacco import offices, a car repair shop and a car rental agency. Apartments owned by the Abragils include real estate in Arad, Rehovot, Kfar Truman, Rishon Letzion and Lod.

Some of the owners of the aforementioned assets have been the targets of assassination attempts by assailants who police believe belong to rival underworld organizations.
