Forensic experts identify body found in Yarkon River as Rose Pizem

Experts from the Abu Cabir Institute of Forensic Medicine on Friday notified Central District Police investigators that the body found Thursday in the Yarkon River is that of Rose Pizem.

Marie-Charlotte Renault, the mother of 4-year-old Rose wrote a letter to her daughter earlier on Friday, saying "I'm sorry, girl."

In the letter, obtained by Haaretz, the mother writes, "Rose, I'm so sorry I didn't know how to understand you. Understand your anguish, your suffering, that I didn't know how to take you in my arms and tell you how much I love you. Nine months we lived together, and 18 months I didn't live for anything but you - the separation, the distance were so hard for you and for me."

Renault went on to say, "I would so much like to explain to you how difficult it is to be a young mother, how hard it is to struggle every day to gain some respect as a young mother, but I bore you from my stomach, I alone carried you inside me. For the two and a half years during which we were separated, you remained the baby I knew. I didn't know how to comprehend the little girl I saw arriving last December."

She continued: "It saddens me that in recent months I was unable to show you how much I love you, how much you are a part of me, are my daughter, my girl. Surely you know now how sorry I am and how much I love you. I cannot get myself to sign this letter, my little bug. I have several things to tell you, several more things to explain to you, so many missed months to tell you about. I don't want to let you go, but I know that you will never go, you will forever be my daughter, my girl. You will always remain in my heart, inside me. I will never forgive that you were taken from me, from my life."

Renault signed the letter, "I love you, your mother, Marie-Charlotte."

Meanwhile, the initial results from the autopsy of the body found in the Yarkon river on Thursday appeared to bolster the premise that it was in fact the body of the missing 4-year-old.

The body was found in a suitcase some 400 meters from the spot where Ronny Ron, Rose's grandfather, who was also her stepfather, had confessed to having dumped her body, which he said he had stuffed into a suitcase. Ron later recanted.
