Couple dies after wife loses control of car in Beit She'an By Eli Ashkenazi Tags: Israel, accidents A husband and wife were killed on Saturday when their car flipped over in the Beit She'an Valley. The woman reportedly lost control of the vehicle after driving onto an oil spot on the road. The accident occurred at around 6 A.M., as the Yehuda family - Simhoni, 52, his wife Esther, 50, and daughter Nufar, 26 - were traveling to visit their son Maor, 18, a Border Police officer serving at the Hawara checkpoint south of the West Bank city of Nablus. On the way home, the vehicle overturned on Route 90, between Moshav Yardena, where the family lived, and nearby Hamadiya. Advertisement Police said the car drove over the oil stain, slid, and struck a vehicle driving in the opposite lane. The father and mother were seriously injured, the daughter lightly hurt. The Peretz family of Moshav Nehemia was in the oncoming car. In this case, too, the parents were seriously injured and the girls lightly. Magen David Adom crews called to the scene performed CPR on Simhoni and Esther Yehuda, but were forced to declare their deaths. The daughter was transferred to Haemek Hospital in Afula. "Where are my parents? Did I kill them?" she cried while receiving treatment. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, and are searching for the driver of the truck believed to be responsible for the oil leak. The Peretz couple, meanwhile, were airlifted to Haifa's Rambam Medical Center while their daughters - Gal, 12, and Ori, 4 - were taken to Haemek. Dr. Majed Zabidat of the children's surgery department said Gal is in good condition while Ori suffered a light head wound. The Yehuda family arrived in Israel from northern Iraq in 1951 and were among the founders of Moshav Yardena. Simhoni Yehuda served in the Border Police in the Mount Gilboa community of Gan-Ner, while Esther worked in the guesthouses of Kibbutz Sha'ar Hagolan. Simhoni's brother, Tzach, said their brother Tzion was killed in the battle over the Suez Canal in the 1973 Yom Kippur War, and months passed before his body was finally discovered. "Now I have to tell my 98-year-old mother that Simhoni was also killed," he said. The funeral will be held this afternoon at Moshav Yardena.
