A 72-year-old Upper Nazareth resident was killed Tuesday evening when a vehicle struck him and his two-year-old grandson.

The boy, who was hurled into the bushes, was not initially found, and sustained serious injuries.

The pregnant woman driving the car that hit the victims was also moderately injured.

The accident occurred when the driver diverged from her lane, lost control of her vehicle and careered into the grandfather and grandson who were walking along a nearby sidewalk.

Emergency services attempted to save the gradfather's life, but soon pronounced him dead at the scene. The 2-year-old was only discovered after the the medical team treated his grandfather and the driver, some 15 minutes later.

Also Tuesday evening, two people were seriously injured, another two moderately, and one lightly, when a car collided with a commercial vehicle close to Kabri Junction in the western Galilee. Emergency services managed to extricate the victims from the vehicle and evacuate them to a hospital in Nahariya.

An Arara resident was killed Tuesday morning after being hit by a truck on the Wadi Ara road in the country's north.
