Kahane's kippa By Anat Or The colorful selection of crocheted kippot with amusing designs from "Sesame Street" and "South Park" in a store selling skullcaps at Jerusalem's pedestrian mall includes one kippa, proudly displayed, whose symbol - a fist against the backdrop of a Star of David - is suspiciously similar to that of the Kach movement, designated as a terrorist group in 1994. The only difference is that the colors of the kippa's symbol deviate from those of the original. Avi Benjamin, the owner of the Kippa Man chain, says the skullcap was a special order and that his shop made another one to sell. "I don't know if it's legal or not. So far no one has bought it." Advertisement The Kahanist idea is still alive and well, and widely popular on the radical right wing's forum (hayamin.org). One surfer was asked last week if he was not worried about getting into trouble with the law because his user name is partly made up of the Kach symbol. His answer was that the Kach symbol is yellow while his is blue. What is the rule for fans of Kahanist symbols? Attorney Moshe Negbi explains that the law prohibiting support for and identification with a terrorist organization is likely to apply in these cases, but it is not enforced when it comes to the radical right.
